Black & Decker 7152 3.0-Amp 3/8-Inch Single Speed Reversing Drill
Your basic inexpensive hole puncher. Great for drilling screw holes with tapered bits with countersinks, then sink the screws with a variable speed cordless. With such a combination, you don't have to switch bits in the cordless from drill to driver. Makes sinking a lot of screws fast.
Milwaukee 0234-6 Magnum 5.5 Amp 1/2-Inch Drill
Industrial strength drill for drilling holes in wood over 1/2". Your battery drill has its limitations, this drill's capacity far exceeds any battery drill. Strong enough to wrench itself right out of your hand, which is why it comes with a 2nd handle for stability. Heavy and clunky, not for drilling little holes.
Rockwell Compack 18V Right Angle Drill, Model 2805K2
Right angle drills are great for working in tight spaces for drilling holes and setting screws. This is a less expensive alternative.

I have three hand drills. The first is an inexpensive single speed with no variable speed trigger and a 1/4" chuck, which I use for drilling screw holes. The second is a cordless with a variable speed trigger which I use with a Phillips bit tip to sink the screws. The third is a heavy 1/2" chuck model which I use for large jobs. It has a variable speed trigger, but it's too heavy and clunky to use for sinking a lot of small screws.

If you are just starting out, first get the inexpensive single speed for drilling holes and a cordless for sinking screws. Or, just get the cordless, but then you'll have to switch between bits and screw tips constantly when installing screws. With two drills set up, you don't have to do this. That's why the inexpensive single speed is worth the money. Don't try to sink screws without a variable speed trigger. You need to ease them in slowly so you don't shear them. With small brass screws don't use an electric drill at all, sink them by hand.

Cordless drills have come a long way over the years. The batteries hold their charge a long time, the motors have some guts to them, and they are light and manageable. It's real nice not having to worry about dragging that cord around with you every time you need to do some odd job around the house, too.
